Patones is located about 70 km north of Madrid. Thus, it is not surprising that it is the most popular climbing area of the capital. This should not deter a visit, however, because it is still one of the best limestone climbing areas in Spain and is subject to constant development of new rocks and routes.
This guide is the most up-to-date and co-edited by local heroes. There are over 900 routes described, with color photos, sketches, topos, etc. The difficulties in Patones are between the 4th and 9th French grades. The routes are often rated harder. The route length is on average 25m.
