Climbing Guidebook Kalamárka - Skaly na Slovensku IV

With the climbing guide Kalamárka is published the 4th volume of the series Skaly na Slovensku (Rocks of Slovakia). Kalamárka, located right near the village of Detva (near Banská Bystrica), is quite a popular Slovak area, which attracts not only many locals but also climbers from Hungary and the Czech Republic. The guidebook describes 5 sectors with a total of 649 routes. The sectors Horne Skaly and Dolne Skaly combine already about 530 routes. The difficulties are moderate on average, a large part of the routes are not harder than 5+ UIAA. Of course, there are also harder routes - but in grades 7 and above the offer is much more manageable. The moderate difficulties of some of the routes are compensated for by the belay situation - many traditional routes offer long runouts and must be belayed by the climbers themselves. However, there are now just as many perfectly secured sport climbing routes. In Kalamárka, development is still going on, and the number of modern routes continues to grow.
On 350 pages, the areas are comprehensively presented in two languages. About meaningful pictograms (rock, star rating, access time, orientation, child friendliness, rock heights, wall slope, belay situation, protection - number of bolts / route, ...) can really find all the necessary information at a glance. The topos (in different colors for the respective difficulty range) and the site plans are graphics, which are very easy to read. In addition, individual paths are highlighted on color photos.
