climbing guidebook Harz Rocks 1 - Okertal
- Order number: 11506
Climbing in the West Harz is first and foremost pure granite. Rough but hearty is the motto. But it is especially climbing in nature. Deep forests, surprisingly imaginatively shaped rocks and romantic mountain streams make the Harz one of the most beautiful German low mountain ranges. In addition to fully equipped routes with bolts, there are also many mixed routes where you belay yourself with wedges and friends. Some of the best crack climbing in northern Germany can be found here! The focus is on easy and medium routes, but there are also plenty of sporty 8s, 9s and even a handful of 10s. Ideal for the climber who finds the Ith too crowded on weekends and is looking for the holistic climbing experience.
The Oker Valley is particularly attractive for verticalists who prefer easy and medium-difficulty routes, which is why we have again expanded our previously used three-level route color categorization (gray = difficult, red = medium, blue = easy) especially for this. New is: very easy (UIAA 1-3) = green, normal easy (UIAA 4-6) = blue.
Perfect photo topos, precise access and ascent sketches + detailed descriptions, route info, star ratings, belay tips - a Geoquest guide.
The guide Harz Rocks 1 is part of the complete work Harz Rocks, which consists of this on the one hand and the in progress Harz Rocks 2 on the other hand. Jokers also speak of the "Westharzführer" and "Restharzführer". In the latter, all other rocks of the Harz will be presented, e.g. the rocks of the high Harz around Schierke, Eckertal, Steinbachtal, the sandstone rocks of the northern Harz foreland and also the limestone rocks of the southern Harz and the difficult sport climbing routes from Krokstein.
