climbing guidebook Elbtal (Labske Udoli)
- Order number: 11468
The climbing guidebook is the first (and only) which presents the Elbe Valley on topos. The routes have detailed information on protection and true difficulty.
Insiders have known for many years: the Elbe walls have the strongest sandstone in the mountain range and also surpass that of the Biela Valley. Through the steep walls of the Elbe canyon, up to 80 meters high, there are lines that you would look for in vain on the German side. From the two Bohemian pubs in the starting point Dolni Zleb (Niedergrund) you can already see the beautiful yellow, brown and black colors and the fantastic iron bands in the rocks.
The rock world to the right and left of the Elbe River, formerly known as a gravity climbing area, has now been enriched with many easier routes. Despite the much better protection compared to the German side, the Elbe Valley is not a sport climbing area a la southern France but also here it can sometimes take eight meters until the first bolthook (or ring) appears. Therefore, a few additional slings are advisable. But then many routes are quite regularly secured, so that nothing stands in the way of high and highest performances.
In the Elbe Valley, however, it is not only the solid rock, the view of the Elbe River and the beautiful routes that make climbing here so special. It is also the final visit to the Bohemian pub with its excellent beer and delicious goulash that brings us closer to Czech hospitality. Well then: Ahoj! Na shledanou in the Elbe Valley.
