The first part of the guide to the climbing areas around Banská Bystrica includes the Harmanec, Krpcovo, Jelenec and Šturec areas. Many new routes have been created here in recent years. Solid limestone awaits the climber, except in Šturec, where it is conglomerate.
There are 594 routes in 4 areas. The largest number of routes is in Krpcovo, which is one of the top climbing areas in Slovakia. There are 235 routes in 11 sectors, most of which are highly rated. It is located above the village of Horný Harmanec. Another excellent area is Harmanec, with 177 routes in 12 sectors, 21 of which are projects. New sectors and routes are still being developed in these two areas. The Harmanec climbing area is located above the village of Ober-Harmanec, directly opposite the Harmanec Cave.
Jelenec is better known locally. The area offers 161 routes in five sectors, above the village of Lower Jelenec. The smallest area is Šturec, where there are 21 routes with almost exclusively very difficult routes.
In the guidebook you will find classic graphic topos of very good quality, but also color photo topos, very clear pictograms and good maps.
